Youth Leadership and Character Development Programs

Arthur Ashe's legacy is to present children and teens with opportunities to grow as students, athletes, and active contributing citizens. The youth leadership development and citizen education components of our program are rapidly emerging and we are making them more robust by integrating the curriculum into all of our programs in the neighborhoods and at the Center. Our youth leadership curriculum emphasizes integrity, civility, and community participation through the age-appropriate coverage of workshop topics as well as experiential "learning by doing" community improvement and service-learning projects. Throughout the year, young people engage in experiences to strengthen personal identity, leadership, and community engagement skills through real-world civic action and community problem solving projects, and individualized plans for secondary and post-secondary success.

Our Youth Leadership program is called the Goodstein Junior Leaders.

Our Character Development program is called the Character Matters Initiative.
